Big News for Virgin Voyages Fans: MNVV Just Got a Major Makeover! 🛳️
If you're a Virgin Voyages Sailor who loves booking your next adventure while you're still on the ship (hi, same!), listen up: the My Next Virgin Voyage program, aka MNVV, just got two big updates. One kicks in immediately, and one is coming this fall. Let's break it all down so you know exactly what it means for you.

First, a Quick MNVV Refresher
For anyone new to the term, MNVV lets you put down a deposit while onboard to lock in a discount and some sweet Sailor Loot for a future sailing. It's one of my favorite perks to talk to clients about because it rewards you for falling in love with the brand while you're already living your best life at sea.
Change #1: No More Name Changes (Effective Right Now)
As of August 6, 2026, new MNVV placeholders purchased can no longer be transferred to someone else. Whoever purchases the placeholder has to be the Sailor who ends up using it.
Here's the real talk: reselling or gifting an MNVV to another traveler was never technically allowed under the program rules, even though it happened. This update just closes that gap for good. If you bought your MNVV before August 6, you're grandfathered in under the old rules, but anything purchased from here on out is locked to you and you alone.
My take: If you've been buying extra MNVVs "just in case" for a friend or family member, that strategy is officially off the table. Only grab one if YOU plan to sail on it.
Change #2: More Flexibility on When You Sail (Coming Fall 2026)
This one's the exciting part. Right now, you have two years to actually sail on your MNVV booking. Starting this fall, that's changing in a big way.
Instead of a two-year sailing deadline, you'll have one year to convert your MNVV into a confirmed booking, but the sailing itself can happen way further out. So technically, you could reserve your spot within that first year for a voyage that doesn't set sail for several years down the road.
Translation: way more breathing room for anyone dreaming about a far-off itinerary, a brand-new ship, or a destination that hasn't even opened for booking yet.
Virgin Voyages hasn't nailed down the exact fall launch date yet, but I'll be watching closely and will update you the second it drops.
What's Staying Exactly the Same
Not everything is changing! Here's what you can still count on:
You can still snag up to 4 MNVVs per Sailor on a single voyage
Your First Mate (hi, that's me! đź‘‹) stays connected to your MNVV once it converts to a booking
Once converted, your booking follows the normal rules for whichever fare you choose
Canceling an MNVV booking still means losing those MNVV perks
The actual discount and Sailor Loot values aren't changing at all
How This Affects You If You Convert to a Booking
Once your MNVV turns into a real booking, what happens with name changes depends on your VoyageFair Choice:
Base: No name changes, period.
Essential: The lead Sailor is locked in, but other Sailors on the booking can be swapped up to 48 hours before departure.
Premium: Everyone, including the lead Sailor, can be changed up to 48 hours before departure.
RockStar & Mega RockStar Suites: Full flexibility stays intact.
My Bottom Line
This update is a mixed bag, but honestly, I think it could be a positive. Yes, the resale door is closing, but the flexibility on sailing dates is a genuinely great win for anyone who books ahead (which, let's be honest, is how I'd want to book if it were me!). If you're the type who likes to lock in a deal early and figure out the "when" later, this fall update is going to feel like a gift.
